Looking for a fun, modern knit with an unusual construction? Meet the Costa Pullover! A double bed pattern written for the standard gauge (4.5mm) knitting machine and ribber.
Costa is a sideways knit, one-piece construction that finishes at high hip. The fitted silhouette is juxtaposed against playful, voluminous ¾ length sleeves that take shape through a series of short rows. You begin knitting the sweater at center back, working your way around until you reach the center back again. 1x1 rib trim is added to the cuffs, hem and neckline. It all comes together with a pronounced center back seam and minimal hand finishing.
The sweater has been designed to be worn with 0-2" of positive ease at the bust, and plenty of positive ease at the upper arm. Measure your bust, and go from there. The written pattern includes 8 sizes (1 (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8)), with a finished bust circumference: 32 (35, 37½, 40, 44, 47, 50, 53) inches; 81cm (89, 95, 102, 112, 119, 127, 135) cm.
Techniques in the pattern include: sideways construction; short row shaping with automatic wraps; twisted increases; 2-step decreases; gathering stitches; attaching ribbed hems; folded neckband; and more!

Within the pattern you will also find a detailed schematic with garment measurements as well as a construction schematic to help you understand how Costa is put together. The construction schematic can also help you plan for adding details, such as stripes.
The recommended yarn is Coast by Holst Garn, a 2-ply yarn, 55% Merino Lambswool and 45% Cotton.
Yarn requirements are 5 (5, 6, 6, 6, 7, 7, 8) cakes of Coast, or an equivalent yarn that knits up to the specified gauge of 28 stitches and 43 rows over 4” (10cm).
